Eraserheads Reunion Concert - How to Register Online?

Pinoy rock icon Eraserheads will have their very first reunion concert this month. Eheads frontman, Ely Buendia, earlier confirmed in an interview that the reunion gig will be on August 30, 2008, a Saturday. Venue is at the CCP Open Grounds, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City Bonifacio Global City Open Grounds in Taguig City. Good news is, you don’t have to worry about saving money for the tickets because the concert is absolutely Free! According to Buendia, you just have to register online to secure yourself a pass, however, you have to be 18 years old and above.

Now we are all left with a question – where is that online site? There have been several speculations that the online registration is happening at http://marlboro.ph/, Marlboro’s Red List. The famous tobacco company is said to be the major sponsor for this event. I tried signing up for the Red List today (even if I’m not a smoker) to know if it's really the Eheads online registration site. Get ready with a copy of your valid id because it has to be either uploaded, mailed, or faxed for age verification. I’m not sure if my registration will get me a sure pass for the Eheads reunion. I’ll give you an update soon.

The Eraserheads was one of the most successful bands of the Philippines in the 1990s. So popular that they were even tagged as the “Beatles of the Philippines”. The original members were Ely Buendia (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, lead guitar) , Raimund Marasigan (drums, percussion, backup vocals) , Buddy Zabala (bass guitar, backup vocals), and Marcus Adoro (lead guitar, backup vocals). August 4 - It is now confirmed that Philip Morris International, maker of Marlboro cigarettes, is the major tobacco company behind the sponsorship of this one night event. Read article of Jim Ayson in PhilMusic for more of this story.

August 6 - The Department of Health warned Philip Morris that they may face criminal charges if the tobacco company still pushes through with the sponsorship of the one-night event.

August 9 - Eraserheads started practicing for the reunion concert, according to Raymund Marasigan as stated in the mailing list of Sandwich (Marasigan’s present band).

August 11 - Philip Morris clarified participation in the event as a Promoter and not as a Sponsor contrary to early reports.

August 26 - Tobacco company out of the picture!

August 30 - The much-awaited concert pushed through this evening but have to cut short after lead singer Ely Buendia suffered emotional and physical stress. Buendia was rushed to Makati Medical Center.
