Star City - Manila’s Premier Amusement Park

Star City
Star City Amusement Park

I had a chance to revisit Star City last night where I had some catching up with my sister, her boyfriend, and my balikbayan cousin. I was surprised to discover that this theme park located in the heart of CCP complex had some make-over.

Star City has always been the favorite theme park destination of our Filipino families, especially those who can’t afford to travel all the way to Sta. Rosa, Laguna to see the Enchanted Kingdom. I must admit, I grew up patronizing Star City with my friends, siblings and cousins way back my teen years. Now that the Christmas Season is approaching again, Star City re-opened this year with a new and more colorful image.

Star City is back on its daily operation last September 20, 2008. It opens from 4:00 pm- 11:00 pm every Mondays to Thursdays; and from 2:00 pm – 12:00 midnight every Fridays to Sundays.

Here are Star City’s latest ticket prices:
Entrance – P60
3 Cheers – P250
Ride All You Can – P300
Ride All You Can + Snow World + Dino Island = P450
Entrance + Snow World = P160
Entrance + Dino Island = P160
Ride All You Can + Snow World = P375
Ride All You Can + Dino Island = P375

I just noticed that the Wild River, Zyklon Loop and Blizzard, which are among crowd’s favorite rides, were not available last night. Zyklon Loop and Blizzard were both was on maintenance, while Wild River is already closed. On the other hand, there are three latest attractions which were already available to be experienced – Star Flyer, Snow World, and Dino Island. I have not tried Star Flyer yet but just witnessing how these youngsters screamed during their 1 minute intense ride was already thrilling! Last year, I had the chance to enjoy the Snow World. It’s great for those who want to experience playing with snow in a hot and humid country like ours. The latest I guess is Dino Island. At last they replaced the very boring Lion King Boat ride, although I haven’t seen what’s new with Dino Island and its Museum. Would you know what’s inside Dino Island?

Here are the list of this theme park’s attractions: Grand Carousel, Kiddie Wheel, Octupus, Caterpillar, Telecombat, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Peter Pan, Kiddie Bumper, Bumper Car, Bumper Boat, Dungeon Horror House, Kilabot ng Mummy, Red Baron, Dino Island, Viking, Blizzard, Zyklon Loop, Ferris Wheel, The Time Tunnel, Gabi ng Lagim, Flying Carpet, Wacky Worm, Land of the Giants, Little Tykes, Rodeo, Surf Dance, Star Flyer, and Snow World, Fun House, and a lot of game booths were you can win yourself prices from flush toys to giant stuffed toys.

Aside from the attractions I mentioned above, you can also have a chance to watch free musical presentation courtesy of Ms. Liza Macuja-Elizalde and the Ballet Manila. Shows normally start 8:00 pm at the Star Theater inside Star City.

Just remember, not everyone is fit to take Star City’s fun rides especially the extreme ones. Don't forget to check the safety guides and reminder posted at the entrance of every ride to avoid accidents and troubles. Pregnant women and guests with motion sickness, hypertension, and heart problems are normally prohibited taking these kinds of rides. If that’s the case, just enjoy some games around, karaoke, arcade, food trip, shopping, and even watching Star Theater’s musical shows.
